Title: Family Assessment Worker, English/Spanish Bilingual Required
Hours:  Full Time, 40 hrs/week

Location: Yolo County
Annual Salary: $32,000-$34,000/DOE with competitive benefits package

Family Assessment Worker (FAW) makes contact with expectant or new parents to offer resource information, referrals and voluntary home visiting support services. The program serves families who are first time parents, young, Medi-Cal eligible and live in Yolo County; they are generally facing challenges or are overburdened. The Family Assessment Worker gives information about the program, offers resources countywide including finding and maintaining health services, conducts a parent survey or assessment if families meet eligibility criteria.  All services are voluntary, so the assessment/parent survey only happens if the parent is interested in services.

Intensive home visiting services include teaching parents about child development, enhancing child’s social, emotional and cognitive development, supporting parents in setting and reaching their goals, promoting positive infant-parent relationships, helping parents bond and attach with their babies and connecting families with community resources.

Step by Step/Paso a Paso Initiative:
The Yolo County Children’s Alliance Step by Step/Paso a Paso Initiative seeks to improve the health of children living in Yolo County by improving the infant-parent relationship.  This is accomplished by enhancing skills, promoting healthy child development and bonding in a safe home environment.  All expecting parents and parents of newborns have common questions about their child’s development.  A newborn can bring pleasure and happiness but also stress.  Step by Step/ Paso a Paso staff provides support to families in the following areas:

  • Self-care during pregnancy
  • Soothing a crying baby
  • Ensuring child’s adequate nutrition
  • Ensuring medical home for child
  • Promoting healthy development and bonding
  • Creating a safe home environment
