Yolo County Children’s Alliance 15th Annual West Sacramento Giveaway YCCA’s 15th annual Community Giveaway day was a successful drive-thru event this year, held at the West Sacramento Family Resource Center on Saturday, November 21, 2020.
(West Sacramento, CA) On Saturday, November 21, 2020, from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., the Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA), in partnership with the Yolo Food Bank and Mercy Coalition, hosted their 15th annual Community Giveaway Day for West Sacramento families.
Due to the COVID-19 climate, this giveaway day was held in drive-thru fashion with social distancing between staff members and clients. Holiday meals, kids’ jackets, blankets, socks, and other household items were available for more than 750 families in both West Sacramento and Clarksburg.
“We feel extremely fortunate that we were able to continue this event, especially during these trying times. Now more than ever, the families that YCCA serves need our help, and the support of the community, to make it through this challenging period,” said YCCA Executive Director, Katie Villegas. “The hard work of our staff and partners made this event a success, with another huge ‘thank you’ to our amazing sponsors. Year after year, these organizations and individuals donate not only their time, but supplies and direct funding for this essential event.”
This year alone, one of our sponsors, the Yolo Food Bank, donated more than 600 holiday meal kits. Other donors supplied services, masks, time, and funding for the other aspects of the event. Thank you to the following organizations and individuals: The Washington Unified School District, Sacramento Covered, the City of West Sacramento, Kaiser Permanente, Sutter Health, Union Pacific, MBK Engineers, Nugget Markets, First 5 Yolo, and Maria Simas and Chris Ledesma.AT&T’s Aspire Initiative connects communities through proven strategies to help students succeed by partnering with organizations that meet the needs of young people and investing in education and job training to create a skilled and diverse workforce that helps prepare today’s youth for the future.
On Saturday, December 19th, the Yolo County Children’s Alliance will be hosting our annual Holiday Toy Distribution Day. This event, similar to the Giveaway Day, will be held in drive-thru fashion. West Sacramento families will need to bring a proof of residence, and masks will be required at all times throughout the event. The distribution will be held at the West Sacramento Family Resource Center, located at 1200 Anna Street, West Sacramento, from 10:00 a.m. until supplies last.
