Yolo County Children’s Alliance Brings Holiday Cheer to Families in West Sacramento

YCCA’s annual Holiday Toy Distribution was a successful drive-thru event this year, held at the West Sacramento Family Resource Center on Saturday, December 19, 2020.

(West Sacramento, CA) On December 19, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m., the Yolo County Children’s Alliance (YCCA) hosted their annual holiday toy distribution day, complete with Santa Claus’s Winter Wonderland and live-action Superheroes.

Due to the COVID-19 health orders, this toy distribution day was held in drive-thru fashion with social distancing between staff members and clients. Holiday gifts for children ages 0-16 were distributed to nearly 300 families this year, serving a total of 783 children in West Sacramento!

“This year, with the unprecedented times our staff and our clients have experienced, it was especially important for us to host our annual holiday toy distribution event. Many of the families that we serve have lost significant amounts of their income, so we were fortunate enough to be able to provide a Christmas morning to over 780 children,” said YCCA Executive Director, Katie Villegas. “Thanks to our donors, Pure Form Fitness, the Davis Food Co-op, and the CHP amongst others, and our partners: West Sacramento Mayor, Martha Guerrero, Councilmembers Quirina Orozco, Chris Ledesma, and Norma Alcala, just to name a few, we were able to bring joy and holiday spirit to these families! As usual, the biggest thank you goes to our dedicated staff, whose drive and effort continue to elevate YCCA and the services and events we provide to support Yolo County Families.”

This 2020 year has brought many families that YCCA serves into uncertain times. Bringing holiday joy to these families is just one of the many ways YCCA serves the children in Yolo County.
